Our colleagues educate at top universities

DT-ITS has been collaborating with universities across the country for nearly 15 years to provide students with up-to-date, practice-oriented knowledge. The aim of the cooperation is to enable students to gain first-hand, up-to-date knowledge that will help them prepare for and enter the job market in the rapidly changing world of IT.

The institutional relationships have developed in parallel with the growth of DT-ITS and the opening of the new sites. The first collaboration started with the University of Debrecen in 2009, followed by the University of Pécs in 2012 and the University of Óbuda and the University of Szeged in 2019. The number of subjects taught is constantly increasing, both in terms of compulsory and elective subjects, so currently nearly 40 of our colleagues are involved in teaching from semester to semester.

In university courses, the participation of teachers from the competitive sector is important, because the knowledge they pass on is based on the latest IT technologies and their own experience with them. This is where DT-ITS comes in.

One of these courses is Cloud Technologies, which is taught by colleagues of the Open Telekom Cloud (OTC) Operator Group at the University of Pécs. Many of the students have already joined OTC’s team of operators as trainees or full-time colleagues.

For the fourth year in a row, DT-ITS is running the Big Data and Business Intelligence specialisation at Óbuda University. The success of the specialisation is demonstrated by the fact that the course is practically full, and several students have already joined DT-ITS, first as trainees and later as colleagues.

Also in the spring semester, the DevOps in Business IT Services course was launched at Óbuda University in cooperation with Magyar Telekom and T-Systems Hungary. Our colleagues took part in the Hyperscaler and Kubernetes specific side of the DevOps education.

At the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs the full two-semester project management course has been taught exclusively by our colleagues. For about 120 students, teaching is conducted in both Hungarian and English, including theoretical and practical training.

At the University of Debrecen, our colleagues have been teaching a course called IT Service Knowledge for 5 years. The course aims to provide students from outside of the Faculty of Informatics – often with a major in German studies – with an insight into IT services in a corporate environment. The aim of the course is not to offer in-depth knowledge of a particular technology, but to present the main trends, giving a broad overview and encouraging students to take an interest in informatics. The specialisation also comes with an appealing HUF 1 million scholarship.

In Szeged, a similar training course called IT is my future is also organised.

A popular one-semester optional course is available at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen under the name IT Services in practice in a corporate environment. This fully practical course provides an insight into the work of a multinational IT company. The course is based on a project where IT planning and service decisions are part of the project work. For this complex task, they will be provided with a continuous stream of modules throughout the course, such as networking, server operations, security, project management and more.
